No More Doubt – SaaS is the Present and Future
SaaS Adoption is Growing
New data has arrived – thanks to the recent BetterCloud survey – and now we can say for sure that SaaS is the future not only for SMB companies but for enterprises as well. Today already 44% of SMB companies and 29% of large companies say than more than 80% of all their applications are SaaS. By 2022 80% of SMB companies and 79% of enterprises will run almost entirely on SaaS. So by 2022 SaaS will be equally used by small, medium and large companies.
As the main factors that encourage them to move to SaaS, companies name cost, security and ease of use. SaaS-majority companies also say that cloud-based apps attract better talent, drive productivity, improve communication and employee satisfaction. 86% of users report that they achieve more with SaaS apps in comparison with on-premises software.
New SaaS-related Challenges
As SaaS is becoming a mainstream, employee work habits, IT roles, processes and budgets of organizations undergo changes due to some new SaaS-related challenges. SaaS-majority companies are 3.5 times more likely to experience difficulties with admin delegation, as in companies running mainly on SaaS it’s difficult or impossible to grant users limited admin privileges. With Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) and freelancer economy on the rise, it’s also a challenge for SaaS-majority companies to monitor and control external assess. Another challenge is managing users and assets across SaaS applications as there are dozens of them and hundreds and thousand of users.
That’s why to regain the lost control over enterprise applications, IT teams should adapt their roles, responsibilities, and processes by refusing from decentralized ownership and procurement model and automating routine tasks taking up valuable resources.
